Together we can make a difference
Be the Champion our Foster Youth Need
We are Christians who believe that:
- Group mentoring can not only change one life but the lives of the generations that follow.
- Community through churches can be life changing.
- Getting to know Jesus will lead to a life where there is hope and purpose.
- God placed us on this earth in order to use our God-given gifts and talents as blessings to others, we choose to use those talents to bless our foster youth in group homes and Residential Treatment Centers (RTC).
- Every youth in an RTC or group home has the ability to be a part of a Christian, family, community environment.
Group Mentoring Program:
- Partner Church Mentors will be grouped into "tribes" and paired with teens from the selected RTC or group home.
- Each tribe will consist of a 2-1 or 1-1 ratio (teen to mentor) with each tribe not exceeding 4 teens per tribe.
- Mentors are not paired with a specific teen(s) but work as tribe to build community between the group.
Program Outline:
- ONE YEAR COMMITMENT For all volunteers, including mentors as well as the selected RTC or group home.
- LAUNCH WEEKEND EXPERIENCE. The goal of the weekend experience is to begin building community between the mentors and the youth and begin the bonding process.
- BI-MONTHLY GATHERING with the mentors and the teens.
- 12 GROUP GATHERING sponsored by your home church and led by the Champion Project leadership team.
- GATHERINGS WILL INCLUDE: sharing a meal together, spiritual component, team building and a fun or creative activity.
- BI-MONTHLY CHURCH SERVICES TOGETHER. The heart of the ministry is bringing the youth into a church family. It is imperative that the RTC or group home allows and facilitates the teens coming to church at least 2 times per month.
